Web Load Testing Analysis

Web Performance TrainerTM supports the recording and playback of business cases that contain most Applets and Active-X components. They are supported in two ways:

  1. Downloading of .class files and other executables
  2. Communication of the applet or Active-X component with the web server.

During a load test the virtual users will download the components from the web server simulating the actual loading that would take place with real users.

The other load that Web Performance TrainerTM puts on a web server is the communication from the applet or ActiveX component with the web server. Your applet may or may not communicate with the web server. Please contact technical support for your Applet or Active-X component to find out. Support for Applet/Active-X communication with the web server is limited to those Applets that communicate with the web server via HTTP or HTTP tunneling. Because the only reliable way to get through a firewall is to use HTTP, most do support some form of HTTP tunneling. Note that custom data such as serialized objects that can be sent through HTTP-tunneling can not be parsed by the software, so that on playback there's no way to do dynamic data replacement.

Note that purpose of Web Performance Trainer is to do load testing on your web server, not the browser, so the applets themselves are not being tested.

Check out our demo applet to see how Web Performance Trainer records data between an applet and web server, allows you to examine the data flow, and plays it back!
